Pot odds and preflop call decisions

Before deciding whether to call a 3-bet, you need to know how much equity the situation requires. With 25% pot odds and a calling range that has at least that much equity against the 3-bettor's range, the call is profitable in the long run.

Calculation
Total pot: 100bb | Call required: 25bb
Pot odds = 25 / (100 + 25) = 20%
→ You need ≥ 20% equity to break even

In an HJ vs BB spot with an 18% opening range, when is the 3-bet bluff defensive versus the call?

The decision depends mainly on IP vs OOP and the 3-bet sizing. With an 18% opening range from HJ, the BB has enough equity with combos like A5s, K4s, or 54s to use as 3-bet bluffs: they have good blocker value and equity potential when called.

Why the full grid

Studying push ranges by category makes you miss the nuances. The solver distinguishes A5s from A4s, KQo from KJo. Seeing every cell trains the right intuition.

Ace explains this spot

Why should I push K4s from the SB at 12BB but not K3s?

The difference comes down to blocker value and residual equity when the BB calls:

  • K4s blocks the BB's calling range — fewer K4 combos in their range.
  • The K4s flush draw adds extra equity if the BB calls with a wide range.
  • K3s has similar equity but worse blocker value and more reverse implied odds.

Method

How it works in 3 steps

A closed study loop: you see the range, you practice it, you fix the mistakes. Without leaving the platform.

Pick a GTO spot

Choose position, stack, and street. The Lab loads the solver frequencies for that exact spot: BTN vs BB at 10BB, SB vs BB at 12BB, and so on.

e.g. BTN vs BB · 10BB · Preflop

Train with the Trainer

The Trainer shows you hands one at a time. You decide push or fold — with no time limit. The AI logs your error patterns: which hands you over-fold, which positions you avoid.

e.g. A♠K♦ on BTN at 9BB — push or fold?

Ace explains your leaks

Ace analyzes your sessions and detects patterns: over-folding from BTN, calling too wide from the BB, incorrect push ranges at certain stacks. It gives you a personalized improvement plan.

e.g. Leak detected — folding BTN with A2s–A5s at 8BB

The full cycle — Lab, Trainer, and Ace — in one place.

I used to fold too much from the SB with medium stacks. Now I have the ranges internalized — I no longer make that decision on intuition, I just know it.

I came in understanding push/fold ranges on a surface level — I knew AXs is almost always a push, but not why K4s is and K3s isn't at certain depths. After using the Lab and asking Ace about the specific differences, I started seeing blocker value and residual equity as real variables, not theoretical concepts. My ROI in €10–€30 tournaments went from negative to stable in about eight weeks.
