GTO, or Game Theory Optimal, is a poker strategy that cannot be exploited by any opponent, regardless of what they do. It does not maximize EV against a specific opponent, but rather minimizes possible losses in the worst case.
In practice, studying GTO gives you a deep understanding of why certain plays are correct and provides you with a solid foundation from which to deviate strategically against exploitable opponents.
